Rose Mooney has always had a passion for music and teaching, specifically in voice and piano. At a very young age, Rose began to study music, theory, and piano. Starting at just 8 years old, Rose has belonged to numerous choruses including honors, jazz, and acapella. In 2018, she was a part of the auditioned chorus, MMEA Senior Districts. Rose participated in the Berklee High School Jazz Festival in 2017 and 2018. Also in 2018, she was awarded the Raymond Smith Music Award for the positive impact she made in her high school’s music department.
From just 10 years old, Rose has been exposed to numerous teaching experiences. She started out as an assistant dance teacher in middle school. In her senior year, Rose was the director of her school’s acapella group and assisted her chorus. Most recently, Rose was a camp counselor at a summer arts camp in Boston. There, she assisted in music, drama, dance, and art classes as well as directing a musical that the campers wrote.
In the process of getting her music education degree, Rose is determined to make a difference in the next generation of musicians. “I hope to inspire my students the same way my teachers inspired me. I want to see the joy on their faces when they are creating music.
